FUN IN Central Park

You can bring your own skates or rent them at Wollman Rink near the Central Park Zoo in the winter. The rink also features ice hockey and party facilities. An equally fine spot to ice skate is the Lasker Rink, which is the Lasker Pool during the summer months. Open from the end of October to the end of March, Lasker Rink offers both private and group lessons as well as hockey classes.

Central Park History

The handiwork of Frederick Law Olmsted, a landscape designer, and Calvert Vaux, an architect, America's first landscaped public park came into being in 1853. It was the idea of landowners and businessmen who wanted their families to have an idyllic spot in the city to relax. They also wanted to provide the lower classes with a way to escape urban life.
